Mr. Hall has worked on a large range of projects and deposits around the world, from grass-roots and generative projects through advanced delineations. Through his previous roles Mr. Hall has worked extensively in Australia, China, South, Central and West Africa, North and South America, Indonesia, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and other areas. His most recent role was overseeing worldwide generative and research initiatives for Placer Dome, which was acquired by Barrick Gold in February 2006.
Mr. Hall played a significant role in discovering Rio Tinto’s Yandi iron ore mine and Barrick Gold’s Granny Smith mine, and was involved in the discoveries of Keringal and Wallaby in Australia’s Eastern Goldfields, as well as the definition of AngloGold Ashanti’s Sunrise Dam gold mine. In addition to reviewing gold mines around the world, Mr. Hall has served as the director of exploration research into major gold ore deposit types around the world, including the Witwatersrand, Carlin type, Muruntau, and Archaean Lode type deposits. He has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
Following the Conference Greg Hall will be taken on a field trip through Bulgaria and southern Serbia and will give presentations in Serbia and Macedonia to professional geologists, academics and students.
The Foundation wishes to thank Greg in making time in a busy schedule to talk to the mining and exploration profession and academics and students in the Balkans. As Chairman of the Foundation I would like to thank our sponsors, Dundee Precious Metals Inc., EurOmax Resources Ltd., Freeport McMoran Gold and Copper Inc., Rio Tinto Ltd., and the ALS Laboratory Group, for their generous contributions which have this event possible.
As with all SEEGF events academics and students are very welcome to attend without an attendance fee.
